Pushpa: The Rise(Telugu) MILD SPOILER REVIEW

Image
A mass entertainer directed by Sukumar, starring Allu Arjun , Rashmika Mandanna , Jagadish and Fahadh Faasil (I had no ideaaaaa..more on this in the review) and many such amazing actors. So, I saw a notification on Amazon Prime  today that PUSHPA movie is now available to watch and I was like..yeah why not. Coming straight to the review, I loved it. It has everything that one entertaining action packed larger than life "Hero" material, "South ka tadka" movie should have. Allu Arjun(in a never seen before character) as "Pushpa" nails it to be that protagonist who will lead you to this Dhamakedaar joy ride where you see his journey from a homeless hobo-ish Pushpa to the Kingpin Pushpa Raju. He has brought in some freshness to the role by mastering the body language, character traits, developing habits of the character he is playing through out the movie. The consistency is impeccable. Rashmika Mandanna brings in the love interest of Pushpa in a v...

Class of 83' (NON SPOILER REVIEW): A movie that should have been a series...

Bobby Deol plays a broken cop who tries to change the system with his unique approach. At first, it sounds like a plot of an action Bollywood movie from the late 80s and early 90s. But, I have to say that it has potential. The  casting of good bunch of actors are able to deliver and one can see the artistry in each of them. The production has very well managed to create Mumbai and Nashik of the 80s and cinematography, lights in every scene was well crafted. Bobby Deol nails it in his character of a seasoned cop, Vijay Singh. Its safe to say that he was clearly the showrunner for this one. What didn't work for this movie is the rushed up storytelling. Since, they had to tell the story in less than 2 hours, many events in the movie felt half cooked. With in minutes, it became a few years which fails in developing a character arc for any of the lead actors. At one point it becomes difficult to relate with the events unfolding. The heartbreaking story of officer Vijay Singh...

Tabbar (NON SPOILER REVIEW)

Image
Based in Jalandhar, the story of "Tabbar" revolves around Omkar Singh's family and the events that unfold in their lives with some sharp twists and mind bending coincidences. PavanRaj Malhotra (Brilliant), Supriya Pathak Kapur ( Brilliant),   Ranvir Shorey (Brilliant) Paramvir Singh Cheema (Brilliant)  Gagan Arora  Ali Mughal and Sahil Mehta play their roles with ease and makes it unbelievable for one to even compare their real life image with the one they portray in their characters on this show.  A very well written story by Sandeep Jain who is also the mind behind Kota Factory. Trust me, the transition from a happy, lazy daily routine to a gritty, dark turn of events reminded me a lot of #Fargo(season 1, to be precise). Very well directed by Ajitpal Singh (Please Google him for his life story, very inspiring). Kudos to him for bringing the soul of every character to life. Brilliantly shot and tight screenplay makes you want more.  To conclude...

Aranyak (NON SPOILER Review)

Image
Stumbled upon this web series on Netflix and by god, mazaa hi aa gaya. It has everything. Folklore, Mystery, Action, Twists and turns, Great writing, Good Acting, Cinematography. All ticked. Raveena R Tandon 's debut on OTT will leave you wanting for more. Its her like never before.  Parambrata Chattopadhyay nails it again. Unbelievably well portrayed role of a cop. Ashutosh Rana is a shape shifter. Class apart when it comes to literally living his character. Zakir Hussain again raises his bar of dedicating himself completely to his character. The series is shot in Himachal and trust me you would start to feel the "pahaadi" vibes because of the amazing shots taken in imperfect lights on purpose which brings it close to reality. Upon that the dialect and slight way of speaking of the people living in that area has been picked up very well by the actors. All in all, a must watch for some weekend mystery, edge of the seat thriller summed up in  Aranyak. Also, be ...
